David BASC
Dear all, As part of our campaign to protect grouse shooting, we have been briefing MEP's - see here: https://basc.org.uk/blog/press-releases/latest-news/basc-briefs-meps-on-grouse-shooting/
panoma1
And what was the response David?
David BASC
Very positive indeed, it's important to get the facts over and back it with solid evidence, those who are making daft attacks on shooting can't do that, they simply make up facts and half truths, wrap it up in a web of emotive nonsense
Scotty99
David, Are BASC also going to be briefing U.K. MPs on the run up to the commons debate on driven grouse shooting in response to the Packham petition getting over 100K signatures. Think they have already been speaking with MPs.
David BASC
Indeed we are, our campaign started in earnest in early 2015 when we published our White Paper on grouse shooting, the facts contained within which, I am pleased to see, are being now used by some other shooting organisations in their campaigns and press releases on grouse shooting. I am also pleased to note that when the Government gave their initial formal response to the current petition, what they quoted in defense of grouse shooting again came from our White Paper The date for the Westminster Hall debate on this has not yet been set, the review that's being discussed on another thread is a Petitions Committee review, this committee will decide if the whole thing goes forwards to Westminster Hall, which it is likely to do regardless of the evidence produced at the Petitions Committee meeting We have been discussing this issue with MP's for many months and have held loads of meetings with very positive feedback indeed. Its the Westminster Hall debate that will be decisive and its here we are focusing our work. David
