Blackpowder
I have invited a friend from America who is visiting Scotland over Christmas to a day shooting on a small syndicate where I am a member. Last night I had an e mail from the captain saying that all who are shooting must have insurance and shotgun certificate. I would think that insurance could be easily arranged but is there a short term shotgun certificate for UK visitors? Blackpowder
Catamong
Yes there is a visitor's permit, obtainable from your local firearms licencing unit, it is valid for one year and will cost you £20.00, the forms can be downloaded online. I would apply asap, as some police areas are very slow in issuing the permits. Cat.
English
Blackpowder, I did this for a friend - look here: http://content.met.police.uk/Site/firearmslicensingoverseasvisitor You can download the forms but I would get them in ASAP as with all licencing issues they may not be quick - Basically its a lot like an FAC application - they want to be sure the person will be safe, they want to be sure the person will have somewhere to shoot nd that any firearms they have will be secure when not in use - they can bring their own guns but in my case my American friend just had access to my firearms.
