oowee
Not quite in writing as i have to wait for the ticket. I asked for a 243 a 223 and a 17hmr. The hmr is pressing as i want to take it on my next Africa trip. Already ordered the ammo as apparently its hard to get where we are going. Plan was to swap my cz.22 virtualy new for a HMR as I also have FAC air which does pretty much the same. Wanted to move away from the CZ as the safety is the opposite of most c/f. Dont want to spend too much but want to get something decent. Ideally synthetic. For the .243 I am looking at the Mauser M12 in synthetic. Looks to be well made, robust and handy. Any thoughts on this? Anyone got one? The .223 is just in case and I am not looking. I also asked for an open ticket on the rimfire which was rejected. They asked that I have the ticket longer and keep a diary to demonstrate use. '
Benthejockey
You'd do worse than a BSA CF2 in 243 flavour. I've got one and as well as being aesthetically very pleasing it's so unfussy about ammo that I think I could almost load stones on a charge of custard powder and it would still be accurate! Well maybe not but it really doesn't care what you feed it. And it was dirt cheap. And you can pimp it up as much or as little as you like. oowee
Just out of interest what will you be shooting with the .17 in Africa? Its just to play with in the down time. So probably, Hyrax, rabbit, guinea fowl, ground squirrel etc.
