wymberley
To have any realistic chance you need some clover mixed in. If there's no obvious feed in the area and you have pigeon in the vicinity it can be worth a go. The fastest rate of fire I've ever had was as this, but unfortunately after half an hour it poured down and they stopped coming - 27 birds in the bag by then. aga man
We sometimes get some good shooting over grassland that is grazed by cows. As mentioned it is mostly clover the pigeons want but sometimes chickweed will be present that pigeons also love. Pigeons start to feed on clover here around Easter time and can feed on it throughout the summer depending on what else is available. Worth noting also that using fibre wads over grassland is good practice, for obvious reasons.
treetree
Tried it many times over my grass permission with very limited (almost no) success (though my inexperience probably counts for much). Healthy population of corvids which do seem to decoy on the grass. Maybe set up for corvids instead so you at least have the opportunity to have a go
