gerron
Iv seen allot of chat in here about different decoys but there doesn't seem to be much of a mention of the fud decoys, are they no good or what's the story with them ? super sharp shooter
I have fud crow decoys and they are rubbish compared to the full flocked ones.
Highlandladdie
Greylag ones have worked well for me. Only thing is if you set up the night before, mice like to eat them!
hambone
I have the mallard ones and I don't find them as good as full body decoys. They are light to carry and might be ok on shallow splashes or set on ground but do not sit properly if set on water.
greenergp
I find that if they are used on STILL water they are ok but if any wind gets up they are useless
hambone
I find that if they are used on STILL water they are ok but if any wind gets up they are useless Therein lies the problem with FUD duck decoys. Any size water is rarely still and tidal water never. I should also have posted that I have some pigeon ones and while they are ok I still prefer full or shell decoys. gerron
Thanks for the reviews guys, was all set for buying a few but as I'm shooting on the estuary I think I'll give them a miss
greenergp
I have made some foam decoys from info i got from this site, they weigh about a third of the weight of plastic shop bought decoys, so it is much easier to carry them out to your shooting spot. I use mine in tidal waters and i get quite a buzz when ducks fly in and land in with the decoys. http://workingdecoys.net/workingdecoysforum/index.php?board=4.
hambone
In an attempt to make the FUDs better i cut 1 " sections from a pool noodle (swimming aid) cutting a slot halfway through and pushing them onto the groundspike/keel. it made them float in a more even posture but they still caught the wind and skated all over the place. Albert 888
Use them as silhouette decoys stuck on the bank or in the mud they work great, cut the weights off the bottom to save weight. They are poor in the water.
