njc110381
After shooting my Xtrema for a couple of weeks, I've realised how harsh the recoil is from my Silver Pigeon. I'd like to fit a gel tec (or similar, kick eez etc) recoil pad to reduce the vibrations of the shots. Have any of you got them fitted to your guns, and are they any good? I know I'm not going to get the recoil down to the level of that from an auto, but would like to reduce it as much as possible. My beginner days of enjoying firing heavy recoiling shells are fading now, and I'd like to keep my shoulder intact for the future! What would you guys advise I try? EDIT....It's the field model
dunganick
makes sod all difference. Change your carts to get lower recoil. The gel tek ones are good for soft pads as they dont stick as much as the kickezz or other types. But only really there to look good and add pull. Andy W
I have tried the soft pads, not for recoil but for thickness, I always find them sticky, not for me, instead I prefer a thin hard plastic pad but I dont feel recoil at all, I dont know why. mry716
Take the pad off pop in a Mercury recoil reducer and then add a Pachmayer Decelerator or Uncle Mikes Magnum pad. I use both in preference to others and find they absorb the recoil a little better than standard pads but dont sag as quickly as the softer sort do. The best pad for recoil reduction is the Sims but again it doesnt tend to last as long as the two I suggested above. http://www.mercuryrecoil.com/intro2.htm
Peter_HMR
Most of it is down to fit if you get a pad that fits your shoulder really well it will reduce felt recoil more like being pushed rather than punched if you know what i mean
