Mrs Sweepy
on friday i pack my son off to scout camp .he look so small and overloaded as i wave him goodbye.i then spent the next 2 days worrying if i pack him enough warm clothes .did he remember to put hes suncream on (not that he needed it). was he laying in hes sleeping bag cold wet hungary and missing hes mum at night.boy did i miss him .he returned late yesterday evening looking none the worse for it just a bit more dirty. much to my relief.but it was this morning that i started to notice the difference in him he was up before me .that never happens .when i ask what he wanted for breakfast he imformed me that he had made himself eggy bread i went into his bedroom and he had clean and tidy it up. and now he doing the washing up . what powers do these scout camps have. that a can turn a nine year old boy into a independent young man within two days . and my biggest question could they do the same with a 36 year old father of two (mr sweepy) xxxx suzy
pin
That's amazing, I was in scouts and air cadets and both taught me a lot, but in that amount of time - quite something

SNAKEBITE
Imagine what a threat to society I would have turned out to be if I hadn't been in the Scouts and Cadets.
Cranfield
My niece told us a similar story when her 10 year old daughter went off to Brownies/Guides (?) camp. She worried all weekend, as this young girl is quite shy and has not got a lot of friends. When Clare came back she was full of the experience, cleaned her room, helped her mother and now has a lot more confidence. I think these type of camps work very well for the right children. I have heard that groups of middle aged men going off to Las Vegas for a week, has a similar effect.
