Good shot?
Would like a bit of clarity on a point of procedure (for a mate of mine) He has a warranty problem on his cz HMR, importers have agreed to swap it for a new replacement gun of same calibre but different model via his RFD. Importer has his gun in their possession and RFD has new gun, he is going to RFD tomorrow to to make the arrangements and hopes to come back with new rifle.. My question is, how does it work regarding like for like variation and RFD says there is a cost of £20? for this procedure.(mate wont be paying this cost he says as the fault is not of his making.) Should there not be a 141 variation in place prior to this transaction. Or can the RFD do it there and then with both parties then informing FEO of the movement of two rifles and this then explaining the cost. I was of the opinion that a like for like variation was free in Merseyside area but must be done prior to transactions. Hope I have explained it clearly. PS. he has only been informed of this late today which was too late to ring FEO for advice. Edited February 3, 2017 by Good shot?

Rst1990
Had the same problem. Took the gun back to rfd and they sent it off to importer, gun couldn't be repaired so replaced the gun with another new one. I had to sign my previous gun over to my rfd, as if I sold the gun to them to open up my ticket. Then Had to send my ticket off for a 1for1 which was free and took 2 weeks to come back until I could receive new gun. If my rfd asked me for a £20 signing over fee I would be asking for fuel and time allowance for having to travel back and give them the gun back and it would be alot more than £20! Cheek of it. Good shot?
Thanks for the responses. That is just what I thought. Is 141 variation still free in Merseyside area? Firearms and explosives site says a 'variation' is £20. Thanks again.
Rst1990
141 variation is free i.e. Sell one and send licence off to open ticket up to acquire another. Standard variation is when you want to add another gun to your licence but your not giving one up, requires you to pay £20.
