Wilksy II
I have just pulled the crops out of 15 pigeons shot tonight roost shooting, mainly because osr really taints the meat overnight, but I was surprised to find only 4 contained rape! Those that did was mixed with ash keys a couple were full of ivy berries 2 were full of chunks of turnip or sugarbeet, dirty barley, quite a lot of game feed a real mixed bag! goober
Pigeons around here have been starting on ivy berries, though I have a few I watch feeding on kale/rape mix cover crop outside my house. This year I have seen more pigeon on rape than previous 4 years, usually revert to airgun in the woods but have managed Decoying on rape most weekends which hasn't produced a lot but still enjoyable. aga man
15? sounds like you had a good night! Have you thawed out yet As said a useful post, once again demonstrating the versatlity of the woodpigeon. We managed 10 between us and those birds were mostly stuffed with rape and a few had Ivy berries.
Wilksy II
Haha! It was a good night, the wind picked up and the snow came in but that just made the pigeons commit, cheers gents as you know I don't post a great deal but it really surprised me having seen huge flocks on the rape all over the place that they weren't all full of it, I suppose they will seek out more nutritious food while it's available, managed to decoy 9 over rape on Wednesday they decoyed well and I'd have stayed longer but Jed looked thoroughly miserable so we packed up at 1pm, encouraging though!
