scotslad
Dry timber makes a massive difference to how ur log burner burns. I try to split mine as i fell it but got a fair pile built up not split, really depends on the tree type and even the time of year u fell it (how much sap in it) I have a big pile of smaller branches been cut for 2/3 years now altho not covered (which in hindsight i should of sheeted) but surprisng the difference in MC between different pieces of wood after logged, some was around 20% and lower while some other bits are up around 30%, even after a few months in a shelter still up around 30%. The moisture meter is well worth it, its amazed me.some wood looks damp with the colour but is fine to use But at this time of year not a lot of drying anyway and not had that much wind yet, but even with wind still a lot of moisture in the air
