Im currently doing a mechanics course at college. Bought myself a project car to do up as well needs a fair bit of work but will be worth it in the long run have a lot lined up for it. A 1976 toyota celica Lt. Will be taking the 18rc motor out in a couple of weeks and droping in either the 18rg or the 2tg motor. Then further down the line when i have more funds will be dropping a v8 in there. But alot to do till then. The 18rc needs a new manifold gasket fitting. Car needs respraying it will probablybe a diy job got the spray guns here and the workshop to do it in. Will be resprayed a nice metallic royal blue or maybe chrome black. Then interior retrimmed in black leather with royal blue stitching or if black will be red stitching.. Alot of work but will leave me with a classic ride that goes hard. Enjoy the pics.

Jordan you've certainly got your work cutout for ya mate, but it will be worth it in the end. Personally i'd go black with the paint job, especially if your keeping the chrome bumpers. :/

If you do get a V8 squeezed in that tiny engine bay, a blower will look damn fine poking through the bonnet.

I've loved this model from the moment I spied an SS version parked on a garage forecourt.

Black and it just has got to have flames on it

Damn right about the blower Axe!

My step dad used to drive a 4.2 Firebird and his mate had a 7.2 Trans amm (the old shape, before KITT) with a blower and the gold eagle on the bonnet. While his uncle had a old bananna yellow dodge charger!

Those where the days, seemed so cool at the age of 10!

Thanks for all the replies the celica was brought out by toyota as competition to the mustang never figured that one out myself. the mustang has a v8 and the celica has a 4 cylinder 2 litre engine.

Snakebite: You can think again if you think flames are going anywhere on my ride thats too boy racer and jap crappy.

Axe: Its possible to fit a 5 litre v8 in just with work to the engine mounts and the bell housing. Unfortunately i cant do that now as insurance would kill me.

LB: I wont be rushing anything mate cant afford cock ups when your working on a budget and have no money to spare. The 18rc engine isnt to bad needs alot of work done to it to get it road worthy though and even then its still gutless.

When they bought out the Celica - (mid 70's?) - the American auto industry was in big trouble due to the oil crisis leading to high gas prices, so the introduction to the US of a four cylinder by Toyota was actually pretty smart - by the mid/late 70's 'Stangs were pretty **** by then anyway IMHO........ Some might say they still are....... ;)

Its certainly going to give you a good on going project. The sheel seems to be in pretty good nick, considering its age.

Do you plan to pro street it or just make her look good? Looks to me you have alot of clearance and could lower her quite a bit. A nice set of rims would really finish her off nice. ;)

At the moment Axe She will be done up as a daily driver. Im already on the look out for an auto version for the drag strip wont worry about body so much then or interior as it will purely be built for the drags. That doesnt mean to say the daily driver wont be given enough power to burn off these boy racers at the lights ;);):P
