wacker
Hi, i need to remove the stock of my A303 to get it re headed for a left handed shooter. Do any of you know what sort of socket i would need to remove it. I tried to use a normal socket but there is only about 2mm of space on one side of the nut. so the socket wont fit. kshooter
I did a refurb on my 303 my nut also had a slot across it too never even bothered trying to find a socket as I knew I wouldn't find one with such a thin wall I knocked up a blade on a t bar worked a treat, though I'm not sure maybe this was something mine has had done before I owned it, still have the tool too
Gordon R
2mm is very little clearance. Deep 1/4" drive would be my best guess.
TDS
A 19mm standard socket should easily fit with a factory shim fitted Most likely you have a homemade custom shim fitted to give you some extra cast , a common mod The locating hole has been drilled over to one side as far as possible to get max cast A good removal tool, to use on the slot , is a 1" spade wood bit drill, with tip ground off, with a hex at the end of the shank You can then use a small socket on the end of the bit..i use this on old Rem 1100 autos as they have no hex for a socket , a slot only. Velocette
What you need is a BOX spanner,,,a sort of slim steel tube with a hex shape at each end. I did polish the edges a little but it worked well on my 302.
