Saturday morning sport

I went back to for another early morning session today, got there at about 4am and was still dark ish.

On the way over the heavens opened and I seriously considered turning round and heading back to the nice warm cosy bed I had just left, but as I was up and unlikey to get back to sleep anyway I thought I may as well have a look.

I pass 2 or 3 very 'rabbity' areas on my drive over and they normally give a good indication of what to expect, there were none to be seen - anywhere

Almost as I got out of the car the rain stopped, but there still weren't any visible when I had a good spy round with the bino's.

I have had seemingly impossible days like this when fishing, and sometimes they turn out to be the opposite, so with that in mind I just got on with it.

Well to cut a long story short, as they realised the the rain had stopped they came out in decent numbers and another 13 were removed from fairway their digging activities - permanently.

There was some discussion on the airgun site recently about head or engine room shots for rabbits, and unless I intend to eat them I go for the heart/lung (if it is visible)

Using a .22 with subs I am amazed how closely you can drop rabbits without disturbing their neighbours.

In this picture, the 2 in foreground were shot where they lay (the footpints are there as I checked they were dead before taking the picture)

Having shot those 2 in quick succession I hadn't even noticed the one behind, so took that as well - the camera makes it look darker than it was BTW.

They were all heart/lung/shoulder shots so they went down without any kicking, I am now convinced that is the shot for shooting into groups.

The second picture has another 2 which were shot just were they lay.

And a couple of posed pictures of the bag (minus one that was added on the way back to car)

The bottom left one was headshot as that was all I could see as he was hiding in hole he had dug.

The reason they all look a bit bloody is because I shove then in a game bag to gather them all up.
