pressure theory

ya know the theory that if its a certain pressure in th atmosphere pigeons feed and decoy better.

its something like this:

if it rains a bit or goes very cloudy...the pigeons think that there is going to be a storm/long rain so they go out and feed frantically and harshly on as much as posible to stock up so they can last the 'storm' when it arrives.?

what do you think?

SAM,

I say you are absolutely spot-on with your theory there mate :angry:

Atmospheric pressure can be stable at any level for days, but when rapid changes occur perhaps during our attempts at decoying, it may account for such different reactions from individual groups of pigeons which are either overflying our patterns or not quite in shot gun range, to even the sudden loss of birds on known flightlines.

Recent tests at the Thorngumbald BTO centre suggest that birds can't see UV colours when flying in high pressure, which may be the reason why they decoy so easily to old worn shiny shell deeks on sunny days :lol:

Don't forget that AP also affects shot gun cartridge ballistics!

Cheerio C.B. :~}
