wymberley
Have a little project in mind where these - 8' 6" No 5 might suit. Has anyone got any experience of these - not necessarily in the specified size, please? I have heard a report where he mid sections get stuck and the tip one follows the fly! Alternatively, any suggestions for a different make. I need to keep it cheap as the likelyhood of it getting damaged is high. Many thanks. wymberley
Thanks OP. Found one for £40 and as all of the other sizes in the range had sold out I jumped.

Good tip, many thanks. Can't fault First Tackle. By pure coincidence - wasn't intentional - it turned out that I just beat the 4pm cut off for next day delivery. It arrived at 11:05 this morning. Just waiting for the line now - another good tip from the Fly Line thread, c£4 on special offer from John Norris. Thanks again, S. For the passed few years the mackerel have been hitting the whitebait off (actually, it's possibly more correct to say 'on') Budleigh beach. Started off with the spinning rod, but it was far too easy - boring -so changed to the fly with a 10' rod and No 7 line. Still not much of a challenge so going to try an 8' 6" rod and a 5 line. What you don't see now so much is guys rubbing the male metal ferrule down the side of their nose. They knew.
