We went out at the farmers request today on some standing wheat ,that ive been watching all week .the birds have been dropping right in between the stalks as there are no laid patches .

We had 30 in 3 hours .it could have easily been double that , but due to restricted shooting angles , to keep the fall out safe .we had to leave many sitters .

Just the odd one or two or a half dozen dropping into the tram lines here but not much damage done. NOW!! if the crows start doing that they will have a half acre flattened in short time. Just nothing as such on any areas I have access to so waiting patiently for the combine to hit the rape.

So I'm sitting on our balcony terrace on the second floor, with a huge wheat field about 500 yards away. It's Sally Army ground with houses close by and a nature beauty spot at the bottom. Needless to say nobody can shoot it.....and boy do the pigeons know it. There are hundreds on it and have been for a few weeks now. One flight line goes right over the top of us and birds low enough to hit em down with a stick> I went to a small perm for around 3 hours yesterday and got 5 ! Am I just a bit frustrated, peeved, wound, trigger itchy............you could say that :hmm:

Im just back from the same field i shot on friday .this time by myself .and just used a couple of flappers and 6 shells on canes .shot from 3- 6 and had 38 birds .few actually tried to land amongst the wheat .most were taken while they flew over .

The field is surrounded by houses and a very busy road .within striking distance .the only reason i get to shoot it is because i use a hushpower and am carefull with my arc of fire .

The farmer only wants me and my mate with the hushers on there .

Hushers are definitely the way to go and possibly as more and more houses get built, the only way for some fields. I've been using my Pedretti 20 bore moderated for weeks now, though I did revert to my Franchi semi last saturday and although enjoyed the bigger feel, felt more conspicuous and wonder if the birds are scared off from a much further distance. Still don't see anyone ever getting the Sally Army field near me.
