Browning
Does anyone have any tips on easily removing the shine from some old decoys ? Is there anything that I can spray over them to remove the shine ? Any advice gratefully received.

Cranfield
How shiny are they ? Unless, they are really reflective, don,t worry too much about them. However, if you are the worrying kind and they are the traditional rubber/thick plastic, type decoys, you can rough them up a bit and touch them up with a matt paint. Some people have suggested using same colour powders, mixed in with the paint. I believe the powders are available at model making shops. If they are the shell type, very shiny, that you can almost tear, throw them away.
jimbogriff
you know that space by the side of your shed , or down the back of the garage where nobody dares to go , well stick em down there between shoots till they achive the desired level of mattness jimbo

Fisherman Mike
Browning, I have just recently repainted 20 of my Shell deeks to great effect, Clean them off in warm soapy water and dry. Spray prime with grey car primer. Spray top coat of similar, finish with spray applied matt lacquer, touch in the ringlet and white wing bars. beak and eyes. The white wing bars are the most important and I tend to accentuate these a bit. I have also used a slightly lighter grey than the manufacturers one. Or you could just wash off and spray with matt lacqer.. All available from Halfords. I made some 2 ft to 3ft high mini lofting poles to put them above the rape growth and shot 36 in a 3 hour session last week and didnt even have to get the rotary out of the truck... Like catching on your home tied flies... it gave me great satisfaction... FM.
