for the avoidance of doubt low noise = subsonic

920! Crikey that seems slow. I know they wouldn't be subs if not slow, but how is the hitting power and do you have to give bird's a lot more lead?

They're still doing OK.

If you take 1ftlb as a base and compare them with a normal, say, No7, then the No 7 with the 1 ftlb (1450 at the muzzle) will penetrate between 0.84 and 1.52" at 43 yards and similarly the No5, 0.83 and 1.40" at 51 yards - at the 43 yards this would be 0.98 and 1.66".

However, drop the 920 to 825 and it all goes to pot. This matches the 1 ftlb at 43 yards for the No 7 but the penetration is less - 0.84 to 1.42 which is reflected by their energy densiy levels of 87 for the 7s and 66 for the 5s.

Oh, and yes, I'm bored.

Mmm... maybe you need to get out more 😀. I've not be able to get out much, do to work commitments, but with a new moderated and a load of cartridges that I've not tried before waiting to be tested, tomorrow may just be the day. I've got Various Lyalvale shells, no subs, with some HV 5s, Banger 6s! and some 7s with 24grm load. Target patterning at 30yards show an excellent pattern with both the 7s and 6s, much tighter and even than expected.
