6.5x55SE
I wasnt in anyway negating what he took fella, and dont grudge anyone taking any beast be it huge or a yearling. Was just trying to correct some of the info regarding the antlers never going to amount to anything as with a young beast the first set means very little. Edited to say, without seeing the beast and knowing its true age and condition there is a good chance it was a good beast to take. I to would like to echo your comments. I remember starting out i shot what i believed to be not one but injured limping Fallow Bucks. Feeling proud of doing a good job my heart sank when my Mentor said good job they are Fish Tailed Antlers as nearly every Fallow Buck will carry some kind of injury after the Rut 😔
ShootingEgg
True. I gather they repeat the antler pattern each year. Not much meat :( Well i have butchered the beast and it was of good size and got a good amount of meat off if it. Will make good eating. If its a young beast the meat should be outstanding. When i freezer a beast its always a yearling.
