What is realistic

Right I am now in a postion to start the search for permissions, I have got an OS map, card's, insurance (had that for years). Now for my dilemma, I don't expect to be able to get out more than once a week or possibly once a fortnight, mainly because of working away from home quite a bit. When I am at home I can do evenings until late or early mornings as well. Also when I am not working away I can shoot several evenings in that particular week.

So my question is:

Is it reasonable for me to expect to be granted permission if I can only shoot on an irregular basis? I am not necessarily looking for exclusive rights or anthing, basically I would prefer finding a permission with others on it so that my "lack or field time" hopefully wont matter that much.

So is the potential for my erratic attendance likely to be a problem when I start knocking.

Any advice apprecaited, thanks.....Carl.

If a farmer/landowner needs your services he/she will probably not even bother to ask how often you will come.

However over time if he/she doesn't see you around much or you are not taking care of business then that may change.

For the asking though, I'd not mention it and it probably won't come up.

Most farmers expect you to be working Monday to Friday at your proper job, so wouldn't normally expect you about much in the week.

Of course, if you can provide a mid week service, it does help your chances.

The main problem at the moment, seems to be finding doors in Kent that haven't been knocked to death already.

good comunication s the key factor, let them know 'text' your about, going or been...& the results.

depending on amount of land .. i work a rota, overing the patch(es) on a monthly cycle...gives me a challenge, & the farmer notices a wipe out!!!

:good:

Most landowners want you there for one reason; kill pests. Wandering about every now and again for a couple for the pot wont cut it in my experience. I get calls from farmers sometimes about problems with rabbits/pigeons in certain areas, and when can i attend to it asap. Nature of the beast really. If you want free shooting you need to avail yourself and provide an efficient service.
