Ricko
Hi, I have a Baikal 12g o/u on which the top lever has become a little lazy and doesn't always latch nicely. How easy is it to adjust/replace the top lever Spring? Cheers Ricko
bruno22rf
Going to need a complete strip methinks - pretty sure that it's a coil spring that acts on the locking lever axle - being a Baikal I would be surprised to find anything worn out-try removing the stock and giving the action a good clean, maybe a good spray of WD40 and a good blast from an Airline followed by a light application of Oil to the moving parts might work. Ricko
Thanks for that, I'll give that a go, it might be easier than a complete strip. It's not a bad old thing and I like giving it an outing.
Velocette
I recently did mine and its not too difficult. I wanted to also remove the auto safety which had always irritated me and this was a simple task whilst In there. As suggested above,,a good clean and soak in the fluid of your choice would be a good starting point. If you do need to strip the action right down its all very straightforward. One tip though, make sure you cock the action before taking the stock off as this compresses the hammer springs and allows you to insert a small pin (piece of paper clip) at the rear to lock them in place which makes dismantling much easier. You do need to remove all the action parts, including firing pins which retain it to remove the top lever. Its quite hard to explain everything you may want to know but if you have any doubts , PM me and we'll arrange some contact details to explain more.
