Nurburgring

Got back yesterday evening from a top weekend biking in Germany

We stayed in a small town called Ednau which is on the top part of the Nurburgring. The hotel was called the Hotel Blau Ecke and I'd thoroughly recommend it. The staff were cheerful, (even at 3.30 in the morning trying to close the bar), and it was well appointed, clean and fairly cheap.

The weather was dodgy at times, but on Friday I managed to get 2 spins round the Ring and was sub 10 mins on the 2nd go. It's truly a mad place with so many petrol heads of all descriptions, all vying for their bit of track. You spend half your time checking the mirrors for the Porsches racing up from behind

On the Saturday we went for a ride down the River Moselle, which was excellent. Massive long sweeping corners with vision all the way through which allowed for some great overtaking at fast speeds.

In the evening the town shops all put on a bit of a party for residents and we were accepted everywhere with open arms and had great fun.

The only thing that marred a perfect weekend was a speeding ticket and 120 Euro fine, (although my mates all chipped in and it only cost me 30 in the end), and the bloody traffic back in England on the M20/M25 and A12.

The 8 of us all decided we're going back next year - hurrah!

A Honda fireblade. I'm going to have a go in the "RingTaxi" next year. We spoke to 2 blokes from Eire on the way back who had done it. they couldn't believe the speeds it was going and the way the bloke slid it round the corners.
