Topgunners
Went out to the barn farm again today due to the fact that the rain was forecast; so decided there would not be many pigeons about. Same plan as last time, in the grain store and decoys set all around. Ended up with 84 blackies and 1 pigeon. Getting to be a habit. We actually had 3 farmers call us this week about pigeons hitting the blow holes in the wheat & barley. Will give it a try tomorrow. More running around. It's a hard life. but love it anyway. pin
Plenty of pigeon about, all hitting the barley but round here a combination of shorter varieties and lack of rain earlier in the year means it's all short and there are very few laid patches. The ones there are, are next to bloody footpaths or roads Nothing worse than seeing the numbers build but them being almost unshootable. Can't get any deeks out, magnet looks like a washing line up high and anything you shoot you'll be lucky to pick. Frustrating, not the word for it. Cranfield
Its the time of "pigeon plenty" round me, they have laid cereals, rape, clover and acres of peas (some were harvested this week), to chose from. Rape and laid cereals has always been a nightmare , as often you can't get into the crop to set up decoys, recover birds etc. Even most of the tractor tracks have disappeared as the crop ripens. Now is the time you have to show a presence, even though it may not be too fruitful.....mobile bird scaring I call it.
