figgy
Jap market cars still have faults and breakdowns. The diesel boxer engine mitsubishi used had crank shaft snapping problems.
Dazza9t9
Yeah I agree they all have their problems at the moment I have a 2004 x trail with 175k on the clock. It has the pedders liftkit, is great off road for what I need and in the time I’ve had it, not an awful lot has gone wrong. im expecting it to die in the near future and just wanted to consider what else was out there
figgy
I run s Volvo XC90, bought my wife a Renault Kadjar same bits underneath as Qashquai and X trail but different body styling. As you know can do a fair bit off road and the 1.6 DCI is a little gem of an engine to drive. The Volvo is a much nicer car but a lot different price too. Harry Callahan
Another vote for a Rav4. I have a '55' plate which is the last of the older shape before the new model came out for '06'. Simply, it is brilliant. 40-ish mpg VERY comfortable and very reliable. It handles and drives really nice on road. It's just on road tyres but handles snow with no worries and I've never struggled going up farm tracks or across soft fields (I'm a farmer by day so have used it from time to time for taking tools out, aswell as lamping).
