henry d
If you are out on the first day, park near the roundabout with the chippy next to it. cross the road and follow the path alongside the river it looks as if you are going to be in someones garden but leads to the rowing club sheds, go past them and the river turns to the right. follow along until you get to just before the wall next to a couple of hawthorns and sit still and quiet until it gets light as the canadas sometimes roost there, but as it will be a making tide you may find they have spent the night on the stubbles and may come in to have a wash and brush up after the light is well up. If they come off the estuary they usually come over the bridge and cross the edge of the river/field at a nice easy height before dropping into the river. Just a word of warning, beware of anyone that may be on the other bank as sometimes there are a few boys that like to sit there and wait too, as well as the odd dag walker. Coble shore can be good too later in the season, either from the shore at high tide or out towards the usual spots nearer the river, just be aware that the mussel beds can be a bit tricky as they lie on soft mud. Straight shooting!
