Munzy
X5 - Not sure whether the budget stretches to the ///M, if not we had the 4.6 which had the Alpina engine, fantastic performance, great V8 sound, comfortable and handled like the 5-series saloon rather than a big 4x4. theshootist
My wife has run a Q7 4.2 (the older shape one) for 3 years and 60k miles. It's a fantastic engine and drive train. Not as powerful as a cayenne but the performance is still excellent. Reliability has been perfect although it does like tyres.

When I was first looking at the cayenne s people told me it would eat tyres and brakes and they were expensive. I have put one set of pads and only just on my third set of tyres in over 3 years- almost new when I got it, one full set and 2 fronts a couple of weeks ago. Servicing and all costs apart from fuel of course have been lower than I expected. Edd
