Topgunners
Late last night I had a phone call from an "old Boy" (Tom), I have known for years who had read all about our cracking day on the Pigeons yesterday. He asked me if I would let him experience a day like it and after consulting Alan I rang him back and said he could go ON HIS OWN today, in our place. I rang the farmer to make sure he was happy with the arrangement and he said if I could vouch for him he was O.K about it. We set off to Oxon/Gloucester to reccy some land we have not visited for a few weeks and unfortunately we found nothing of any note and returned back to a couple of fields of wheat near Coventry and set up about 3.30pm and shot steady till 6pm. Ended up with 57 pigeons. I have just had a visit from a man so DELIRIOUSLY HAPPY and THANKFUL that you would have thought he had won the Lottery. Tom had gone to the field and set up on a patch I had recommended to him and had shot his 1st EVER TON of Pigeons. He ended up with 112 and presented a bottle of Vodka & some chocolates for the missus, a LARGE bottle of Southern Comfort for me and a bottle of Sloe Gin for Alan.(must have cost him a few bob) He said he had never known so many pigeons flying about/into his decoys and if he thanked me once he said it 20 times. He said he had also missed quite a few but didn't care as he enjoyed the day so much. Nice one Tom, good shooting and THANK YOU for the gifts. You didn't have to. We were both glad to be of assistance. Dave K
