TRINITY
Read quite a bit about the Huma regulator and I would appreciate comments or feed back from anyone who has done a conversion. I have a bsa r10 mk2 and wondering if the cost of the conversion would bring noticeable performance benefits. Thanks.
Ultrastu
Biggest flaw (apart from potential total failure of the bsa reg ) is often its inability to operate (regulate properly ) above 200 - 210 bar .(meaning little point in filling to 230 bar or above. ) And also they can spike in energy towards the end of the charge so often around 100 bar .this means the power goes up by maybe 5 % this can take a 11.5 fpe gun up to 12 fpe for a few shot before it falls off reg. . The huma reg is supposed to fix these 2 issues . (And as far as ive seen does do .) This should give you more shots as you can fill higher (often 250 bar ) and set your energy to 11.5 fpe instead of having to set at 10.8 ish knowing the bsa reg will climb to 11.5 ish at the end (as you need to stay legal for all shots ) Not all bsa regs do this of course .but they can do if not now - in the future Hope this helps. manthing
For a shocking moment there @Ultrastu I thought you where dissing the huma, threw me a curve as I'm looking to possibly put one in my ultra. Thank goodness I carried on reading. 😄😊
Ultrastu
If your ultra is an se model and especially in .177 .it might not be worth it .why i say that is. One of the usual benefits of a reg is to up the shot count.this is usually done by alowing the gun to be filled to a higher pressure than would bw ideal in an unregged gun . So say up from 190 bar to 230 bar . But the ultra /scorpion se models usually run from 230 / 240 bar down to 130 - 140 bar anyway so already at the top of the safe working pressure. The reg will still bottom out at around 130 bar so your not being able to get any extra air in the gun with the reg . Yes your shot to shot consistency will be improved but the bsa valve - unregged does a good job of this anyway .so the benefits are prettt slight . Ps ive not regged any of my bsa s and thats a fair few and havent felt short changed.
