sam triple
so bloke came around last night and said ,yes condenser is goosed(being sat in front of main rad with very little protection from road debris being thrown up ) but there is very little chance Honda could have give it a full examination with in 30 min , his advice was buy a new condenser (£100) and get it re gassed ,90percent confident this will solve it

Vince Green
My experience with main dealers service departments is that they employ very low skill mechanics these days and their knowledge is very thin when it comes to anything a bit out of the ordinary. Honda seem to be particularly bad. I believe they train their mechanics by sending them on a series of short courses. That is becoming the way the industry is moving now Had a similar story with a distant family member's Honda Jazz. The automatic gearbox had a pronounced judder. Honda quoted for a new gearbox which was more than the car was worth. Took it to somebody I knew, who flushed the gearbox and put in new fluid. Fixed for £300 There is an air con specialist near me who seems to be able to fix any problem with very little fuss and at a reasonable cost. Trouble is he is close to retirement age now, when he is gone all that knowledge and experience will be lost. I had the exact same issue on my first 55 plate Jazz, the main dealer to their credit recommended a gearbox oil change with the correct Honda oil at not a lot of money to be fair but I simply bought the oil from them and had a gearbox chap do it for me for pocket change. It did fix the problem.
