norfolk dumpling
After the incident in Norfolk where a young Royal had allegedly killed a harrier but the so-called witness admitted he heard a shot, saw a bird fall out of the sky BUT: - he didn't know what sort of bird it was - he didn't know if it had been shot - he didn't know if the young Royal was in the area i personally never believe any story of persecution of BOP unless there is a body and a smoking gun. In the incident near Sandringham the journalist spun a web of lies around the flimsiest of facts but the impact of the headlines was sufficient to provoke outrage. Uilleachan
England has several thousand square miles of suitable harrier habitat, so where are the English hen harriers? In England and to a lesser extent parts of Scotland, harriers are notable by their absence.

They probably prefer warmer climates, maybe we are on the northern edge of their range but it would never be admitted? Far easier to propose persecution? Far easier to propose persecution? Plenty here in the cooler wetter drafty far flung north western edge of Britain. Unfortunately persecution is certainly part of the picture, we (metaphoric) stopped killing raptors here some thirty forty years back and the birds returned, eagles harriers et al....
