dazzyboi
Iv found a nice golf that i like, i had a quick test drive today although it was a very quick one as i had to get back to work. I like the look of it, it could do with some alloys, its a well built car being german and all.. its done 79k and its up for £6995. Interior & exterior in immaculate condition, full VW Service history..What do you think? im still not 100% on the mk4 interior, i think it looks too old fashioned.... http://atsearch.autotrader.co.uk/www/CARS_...200731292617779 What do you think? dunganick
given the age and mileage i would say its fair/maybe a bit expensive, depends what warrenty you get with it.
pin
Absolutely tried and tested engine and running gear in those, that engine is used all over the place in all sorts of things and they rarely have problems. The mileage is nothing if it's been maintained properly, it's nicely run in and has at least the same again to give. I think that will be the PD engine @ 130bhp (not sure) which puts it at 80k for the timing belt change. If that's not been done it will need doing and will weigh you out about £350-400 @ main dealer.. LB on here will almost certainly know better, he's changed the odd cambelt in his time

BSA Shaun
I think its the 100BHP Engine That's gonna be sloooooww. Go for the 130 one mate or the GTTDi 150. I have the 130 engine in my VRs and its a beast, torque steer away
pin
urgh, didn't know a car as new as that would have that engine. I know the 1.9 used to be 90/100/115/130 and is now in 150 variation but I thought the 90/100/115 were all older variants

I need to keep it for 3 years. My average milage is about 250-280 a week which will put about 36-38k miles on the clock over 3 years... lurcherboy
Dazzy, cambelt replacement is as follows, TDI every 80k and TDI PD is every 60k. BTW this engine whether in a VW, Seat or Skoda is virtually bullet proof if maintained regularly. LB
