FMD approach to farmers

After reading the thread on here I decided to take more obvious and proactive action with my permissions. I had decided NOT to go where there are sheep (as these are the only cloven animals that are on my permissions) or anywhere near. After reading the threads here I thought I would have a chat with the farmers to gauge their responces. They seem to think that as long as I don't vist Surrey they really are happy with shooting anywhere on the farms.

I've told them that I'll not enter the sheep areas, just stick to to the arable.

I was a bit surprised by their reaction and they were surprised by my caution.

The 3rd farm near Guildford has tested negative for FMD and that seems to indicate containment around Pirbright but it is still perhaps too early to be over confident about this. The NFU has warned farmers about tourists in some areas.

What has been other members approach to this?

Cheers

Malk

well i think we all have to be mature about this fmd. once restrictions lift everybody can get back to ttheir normal activities, imagine the media caught wind that shooters were responsible for spreading the virus,i can see and hear it already. hopefully all will go back to normal shortly.at least the farmers will see you are trying to be sensible

I have been out, after noting the guidance from the farmers and Defra, but if they farmers havent been around to check everything with I havent gone out (even if I saw them the day before!) simple as that. ;) It's their livelihood. ;)

Just a thought, do the thieving ***** scum disinfect their shoes and tyres when doing their late night farm visits ??

Probably not bud, but if a farm became infected it would be the honest shooter with his name in the frame, not some lowlife who nobody could identify anyway. Its not always what you have done but what you can be accused of.

Cheers Andy.
