stet
I have been working at an old ladys house and we got talking about shooting and that her late husband used to shoot. The problem is she still has his bloody guns and hes been dead 6 month. I told her she needs to ring FAO right away But she does not want the guns destroyed and wants something for them. I dont think she has a chance but can she get them picked up by a dealer

The law recognises that certificate holders die and relatives may not be licensed or may not know guns are present, so there is some leeway here. Best to remove the guns asap though. Floating Chamber
Do what I did. Take* the guns from her and give her a receipt, describing the guns and their numbers. Inform the FAO IMMEDIATELY; they will call and can transfer them to your certificate, if you wish, until you dispose of them for her. * not quite true; my FAO rang me and asked me to do this because they were busy! It is legal, providing you get a responsible person (neighbour) to sign and witness the exchange.

She could then have made arrangement to sell or move to a RFD for storage. The Ol' Bill will be around asking some tough questions, soon. For her sake, insist she phone her late husband's FEO and get legal before plod come and seize her and the guns.

I dont think she has a chance but can she get them picked up by a dealer Well shes left it late imo, but like you say she needs to speak to her FAO, I know a family friend died & his son had to get a licence to keep guns to sell. A couple of things to ask, was he in any group, or any close friend which could take the guns on there licence?? or maybe sell them to a gun shop if the FAO allows it. I know my FAO is very approachable so hopefully urs is too.
