for bunny bashing so from anywhere from 20 to 70 yrds.

will eventually be modified but just wondering what its like from normal.

I have a 3-9x50 on mine and feed it Eley subs. Apart from a trigger kit from SYSS it is standard (I couldn't get on with a 7lbs trigger pull!).

I keep it zeroed at 60 yds and consistently get sub 1" groups.

Lots of people slag the accuracy off when compared to bolt action rimfires. 10/22's are not made for target shooting, they are Bunny Bashing tools.

Have fun!

Chris.

Chris,

Just out of interest what do you reckon is the best / most accurate semi auto .22?

Like Flash (I think) I have some shopping to do in the not so distant future.

M

we currently have a cz511, which is a semi auto. out of the box its very good, only downside is the lack of a two stage trigger, and different sizes for the magazine. at 100yrds i can achieve a good grouping, of about 2 to 2.5 inches, using winchester yellow jackets, and a 3-9 scope. reason for change is becuase i want something with a larger mag capacity, and something i can pursonalise. after having a go on drovers 10 22 i fell in love.

cheers

Look at the Rem 597 as an alternative. I`ve got a heavy barrel synthetic which i`ve put a vq target hammer and exact edge in for a lighter trigger and reliable extraction. They are acurate out of the box without junking major components.

Mine alternates from carrying nv in the winter to scoped up in the summer, and i have just got a high cap mag for it for some serious plinking when it stops raining.

some folks think the are unreliable but the third gen mags sorted the feed issues and mine is no less reliable than my mates 10/22. 597`s are adult proportions too. The 10/22 is tiny.

Cheers Andy.

Hi Mung,

I cannot comment on any other semi auto apart from the 10/22, as I haven't tried them.

What I can say is that my 10/22 is the deluxe model (walnut stock, light barrel). As already stated, it is bog standard apart from a £30 trigger mod. 1" groups at 60 yds is plenty accurate enough for what I use it for. I have shot Hares at up to 100yds when using a tripod.

Don't get carried away and buy one of the 25 round mags. Even the metal lipped ones wear. One of my mates has got two of them. When they first started playing up, he used to jam a cable tie up the back to keep it in the right place. When they got worse, he junked them and went back to the standard 10 round jobbies.

You need to keep them clean and lightly lubricate the action. Mine likes Eleys best.

They are only small, but ***** on here is 6' 7" and uses one without any problems.

Cheers,

Chris.

I must say I am a fan of the 10/22. Mine with a factory stainless barrel gives a penny size group at 20yds and a little over an inch grouping at 50yds. If your buying new you will need to mod the trigger though (get it down to around 2 1/2 - 3lbs). Other mods that are usefull is a auto bolt release, makes it much easier to chamber the first round and a non metalic recoil buffer cuts down a lot of the noise from the action. They are a great little gun .... ;)

Ive had an Anschutz 525 for over 10yrs now and shot thousands of rounds through it, it has never jammed, likes eley subs but hates remington yellowjackets cant group/wont group!

Lightly oil the action and never clean the barrel (Eley subs are self lub and dont appear to leave crud)...... its the ideal tool for close range, sub 75yd nightime bunny bashing with a Pecar 4x86. Accuracy over 75yds is not that hot but then that range at night is enough for bunnies from a vehicle on my patch.

My first Rimmey was a 10/22, it has a modded trigger, but other than that is a standard De Lux with a walnut stock, I use a SAK moderator, and the Ruger mag.

Its a nice rifle to use and does its job well, its very good out to eighty yards, I have a cheap Simmons 1.5 X 5-20 on it at the moment, but am hoping to put a better scope on it soon,

I did have some pic's of it, but found this girl who has fired my rifle. So I thought I would put her on instead :)
