Conor O'Gorman
The general licences for bird pest control in England have been extended today by Defra and are now valid until 31st December 2020. BASC continues to work with Defra in response to the legal challenge to the general licence system and we continue to lobby and provide evidence for a fit for purpose and future proofed licensing structure. greylag
You must be joking.NRW run affairs in Wales and as previous history shows are far from pro shooting. We have a fight on our hands and I hope our organisations are up for it. Conor O'Gorman
BASC has made a formal application to court to become an interested party in Wild Justice’s judicial review challenging the general licences that have been issued by Natural Resources Wales. See: https://basc.org.uk/basc-takes-action-to-intervene-in-welsh-pest-control-challenge/ Meanwhile, we continue to gather the evidence for our case together with our legal team. The current Welsh general licences are valid until 31 December 2020. See: https://basc.org.uk/gl/wales/

greylag
Basc has been refused an application to be an interested party in WJ judicial review. The judge has said because NRW and DEFRA are both defending this review Basc was not needed.I do hope that both NRW and DEFRA put up a vigorous defence and not allow WJ make further reductions to the shooting practices in Wales.I fear NRW will role over as it is a puppet for an anti shooting Welsh government. It is the last thing the farming and conservation bodies need,is to have more restrictions put on them when the breeding season arrives next year.
