mu5tard
Just a quick hello from me to introduce myself to the forums. I'm a middle aged carpenter from Notts looking to take up a hobby in shooting squirrels, rats and pigeons. Do I need any accreditation to shoot an air rifle? Can I shoot on a towpath for example if I'm moored up on a narrowboat? Thanks for letting me join, now I need to source a cheap starter rifle to get me going. Any recommendations? Cheers 👍🏼

strimmer_13
Welcome. You need zero experience or qualifications to shoot a airgun, but id check out the code of practise in the airgun section on here. Practice makes perfect, go to a range, some are members only but others are pay as you go and only a few quid. I'd say definitely a no no shooting a towpath, in fact, I'm guessing you'd get arrested for armed trespass pretty quickly.

I did think it would be a bit dodgy 😂 shooting in public places. Will check out the code of practice though. Thanks
martinj
not on a towpath, footpath, road, park or any similar public place. You can shoot an airgun in your own garden but the pellets must not leave your property. You can shoot on private land where you have permission.
