njc110381
At 17 you can get your own FAC without needing an adult to back you. You can purchase your own guns and ammo. Go for it, just read up on what you want to get so you know what you're talking about in the interview. If you want any help that's more specific, try a search on here. There's loads of info to be found, but if there's anything you can't find just ask EDIT....Don't forget to ask for a moderator as well as the gun. Just put health and safety as the reason for needing it.

mr_colt
On a related note the wonderful VCR Act has now made the Airgun purchase age 18, when one can aquire firearms at 17. Yet another demonstration of the law being an ***; if the Government cannot justify raising the firearms purchase age (which it can't,) why on earth does it raise the airgun purchase age? I presume you are using vermin control on land as your good reason? Be aware that on a first FAC application that the police may want to inspect the land to check suitability. mr_colt. At least with a firearm you have been vetted pretty well before you get the certificate needed to buy the gun at all. With a sub 12ft-lbs airgun, any half witted chav can walk into a shop and buy whatever he wants without even having his details taken for records. I don't see what the government plans to gain from adding a whole year to the purchase age though, I think that anything sold from now on should be recorded to the buyer. With all these little chav ****ers shooting at people and pets, maybe the controls need to be a little tighter?
