Double Glazing doing my head in

Last week it became apparent that a double glazed unit had gone in our kitchen window - never done it before but I wasn't phased - sought a replacement unit, removed the internal beading - bingo! Except for the top gasket that goes on the exterior of the glass dropped down because it is broken. Well, I have spent God knows how much time trying to track it down - I have found a place called Extrudaseal but they say they will only do 50mtr lenghts (on the website) - so today I though I would bite the bullet and called them to get "oh - you will have to call back next Tuesday" so I won't know until then if they have it in (they list it but it says OXO on buses but they don't sell it as my Dad used to say)

My wife is giving me evil looks as I have a black thick rubble sack taped over the pane of glass as if we get any rain it would force its way in.

So if anybody on here has gaskets for Profile 22 double glazing please give us a shout - pretty pretty pretty please!!!!

or if anybody can give us some ideas on how to tackle this - the gasket lays exceeding flat and clips into a very narrow channel in the frame

There is universal stuff on ebay. Also why don't you just put the old glass back in?

The new glass fits fine - and the internal beads and rubber is fine - it is the external one that has gone. It clips into the frame and gets sandwiched between the glass and the frame and stops water coming in. The trouble is, I believe that you need to get the right channel size on the rubber or else it won't go in, and I can't find the measurement for this, along with the rubber has to compress the right amount to keep the seal tight. I imagine you could crack the glass if the gasket doesn't go flat enough!

I think that this must have been done at installation as only about a year or so ago we had a number of hinges done upstairs, and the person took the panes out to reduce weight before undoing the screws and then changing the hinges with no issues on about 12 separate panes (2 per window)
