motty
It will depend upon the size in mm. To me, though, it makes absolutely no difference.
Ferret664
Thanks guys . 8 minutes ago, motty said: It will depend upon the size in mm. To me, though, it makes absolutely no difference. I've seen before you shoot steel standard or not through any of your guns . I have a side by side choked 3/4 and full I've always wandered if that would be ok with standard steel but as all my duck shooting is Done with my hatsan semi auto I haven't really had a issue just thinking when this voluntary ban comes in . If I need to get the chokes opened to half and half . I've seen people say it's fine even through full choke and have read many articles about steel .it really seems though that no one really knows . So many articles say different things !!
Salopian
The only reference to a damaged bore caused by steel is on the TGS youtube video where he shot magnum loads through his SxS.

So many articles say different things !! It is obviously up to the individual what they decide to put through their guns. I experimented with steel shot after seeing "specialist" steel shot chokes (extremely tight) being used by a friend. I went on to buy a .655 constriction for the 12 and a .705 for the 10. I put big diameter steel through those with no ill effects. I figured that if that were the case I could put big steel through less tight - but still full- chokes. I have since done this with pretty much every gun I own, multi or fixed choked, steel proofed or not. I have to run into any problems.
