ferretmanabu
I've seen these terms used a few times but have no idea what they mean. Anyone else know?
beatingisbest
With Boxlocks the sideplate is much shorter than Sidelocks, the mechanism is different aswell. This will give a lot more detail---- http://www.griffinhowe.com/boxlock.cfm
Baldrick
Don't overlook Westley Richards-style detachable trigger-plate locks, just to complicate things further.
Floating Chamber
Sidelocks are often more expensive and 'posh'. Gunmakers sometimes 'tarted' up a boxlock with side plates. It's like putting an Audi badge on a Skoda*. (Gosh, they do, don't they! Same group.) *Zapp, that was a joke for you!
