johnskevena
A friend of mine is after booking a Brittany spaniel and asked me to ask the members on here if they could recomend any books on the training of this breed as it is his first one and he would like to do a bit of reading before he gets his pup. Does anyone on here work Brittanys as i myself have never seen one in action and would like to hear thier thoughts on the breed as a working dog
new to the flock
Britts can be very nice dogs. I do find them to be a little one personish, and that if allowed will hunt for themselves. That said I had 5 that I trained in the kennel on the Island, and they all worked well excepting a number of different guides as handlers. As with any dog you need to put your training in. One bit of advice I would give is besure the dog is steady to wing and shot before dropping a bird for it, as they can be very strong chasers if allowed. deeksofdoom
Met a fellah out today who had one, nice dog about same size as a springer but a lighter coat, his wasn't very steady on point, and tended to range a bit far.
