wymberley
Damn it, but nicely. I had just finished modifying a torch that that had previously been IFR but was now white light and mounting it under the Alecto 5 - although it has too much power really but possession is....when my step son turned up with a rather nice present. It is now IFR AGAIN and attached to said present. Consequently, could anyone kindly give me the nod for a reasonably priced torch - I haven't a clue as the technology has left me behind - with a 25 or 30mm tube which is capable of throwing a beam, say, a true100 yards. I'm obviously not going to shoot the Alecto that far but need to ensure that I can see the target perfectly clearly through the red dot sight at 25 yards in a black out. Many thanks. Dave-G
You'll be wanting something truly compact then. I'll throw this into the works - I don't have a red one but most modern LED zoom torches will do 100 yards on tight zoom setting. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/313337571695?epid=20023781586&_trkparms=ispr%3D1&hash=item48f45fe96f:g:BaoAAOSw3ZFf0gcR&amdata=enc%3AAQAGAAACkPYe5NmHp%2B2JMhMi7yxGiTJkPrKr5t53CooMSQt2orsSB0Xm7k0guzAysaIMfJcbBKvzyYXXVmZBAgvu43%2FKJUOLDlrtVROTTSZJXSQpZGQZclr9QwPNiedRGcP7eKrdkzSPJKFad2ztgQF%2FOOcPsKHf9fXEXP1HLdO2C8RnsrgzSY868LOc18Ygjkpi8Pse0u7kYwt70EzYVe8%2Feg43QJgnnmdOC4pPZqrT%2B9a%2BCz4uOys6AyUgE%2FI%2FBD%2BXMLR%2F3QYv0ZaPFV1aLaCIGcD%2BDl%2FI4c6yYmNiDwvQLxjTKi44Yjx%2B2GUwZ6zjABOOV%2F3iF7dVL0jiKNQTYJBtbRj60bCyKp8e%2Fye6gEtMKwXQoZXjd9mmwy0jvbPWbC9g%2BVhnbanGUq9eRBCMAZb3LG4nDZCnqWqHynq30Ho9LTq0cut1UKdbuaCR%2Fp914HncXrN3lzTPfnngymhDXOkAlbh63X4%2FEU%2FwmZM4iCOG5fLSFF0yR4s08huR8TiORIe38GK2nujnPWuyZ0fgpnXUbK0jhSFeCgEHpX2L%2Fe40XOBWbTFEPhzXrf5iDnbhKRdJoMrCACr8ih8jque2byqbhNyYWnIarOuNGuYJXxZOp%2Bd66KmNa2Xy3EqD0qNuF%2Bq3k6LjQTB0XkCMAPqwqUL4141LzAPif6Iv2LCCCrtQIXiQTbXcfxgXQQvnbkZAmkJMlDDblT2nnyGYWwERBMVGOQfF0Lyp5qi2MtuvY40krLKyKX2MBgUWBL7ouMg0726RtW3q1BSn%2B2Hju1gZ9YX5tDokhjf%2FhQ3NZRdyvD%2BMDT6Wz1tlwSgdWZZeh%2Ft%2FYbsUm9MizNzJJJIjjs4dVO8L5eCRb4y7XGWXektSDXHSz6wJ3ZWZ|ampid%3APL_CLK|clp%3A2334524
wymberley
Thank you, that should do nicely if they do it in white - red dot sight. Edited August 28, 2021 by wymberley
harrycatcat1
Would this be any good for rats at night or do you need infrared?

I really do have to stop spending money I have both NV/IFR and TI for spotting and so this will have to do for a while and is a new venture. We managed OK 65 years ago with a Cadet Major and the head of a 25 candle power torch wired up to Father's hearing aid batteries.

That's it then, another use for the air rifle this winter for the dark nights 🌙. May I ask how did your father hear without his batteries? 🤔🤣

Mainly night fishing back then and the same torch set up was also used for this. It saved a few coppers and we could then buy an extra couple of yards of this new fangled mono.
