malkiserow
The other week there was a post about duck shooting without a dog. On the thread...........One solution was to use a drain rod Now when I look at a pond I am constantly thinking .... you'll need a stonking drain rod for that one!!!!! Like when a song sticks in your head

Cranfield
It was webber that raised this subject of drain rods for retrieving ducks. Perhaps he will be good enough to enlighten us how they do it.
webber
Twas I, who mentioned it, but as for actually executing the deed I have no actual experience. In the event 5 ducks were shot, but none came down over water due to some carefull shooting. However the rods were in the truck together with a 2 litre milk container, the idea being to tie it to one end of the rod assembly to prevent the rods from sinking in the water. I am therefore unable to clarify if the method is effective or not. As to why my post should drive anyone mad, I am seriously perplexe. So whatever floats your boat, or drain rods as the case may be!! webber
