30-6
Something was seen on my friends bird feeder filled with peanuts. Quite vigorously feeding on it at 8-30 pm. I set up a trail can last week, but **** law we have had frost and mist intermittently, so not great conditions for footage. I checked camera yesterday and had 4 pics, setting time was 8 pm through to 6 am over a week. Three pics were all misty, put this down to conditions and possible frost on lens. One pic at 9-15 showed a misty pic but definitely something on feeder, but not 100 % identifiable. Concluded it has to be a bird or a rat. Can see one eye shine. So, two questions, 1 - would a song bird feed in the dark and if so, 2 - will a bird give off eye shine to an ir light ? Oh, and note to self, don't set up trail cameras in frost or mist. Lesson learned. 😭
Walker570
Rat or mouse I would think. I often get both on my cameras and it is amazing just how they can climb up tree trunks to get there. The only eye shine from abird I have seen is a tawny owl on one off my flip top feeders, waiting for the rats and mice below.
JKD
Rats and mice tend to take food items and hoard them away, not sitting still for long. Possibly could have been a robin ? They are known to be active during the night.
