PeterHenry
So, I potentially have some Goose shooting coming up over decoys / coming into stubble). I don't do a lot of shooting that requires big steel cartridges - but I have a box of Solway Steel sitting on the shelf in my study from about three years ago. Where do pepole stand on the adage / rule of thumb that if you shake a steel cartridge and it rattles its good to go? *these particular cartridges have never left the house / been exposed to any significant moisture levels. sam triple
I’d go with them , if they’ve been kept dry and warm shouldn’t be a problem

Dave at kelton
Rattling isn’t a good guide. Depends how tight they have been loaded. I have just loaded ten bore cases and none rattle. A lot of steel shot has a steel inhibitor or might even be plated. As said if kept dry shouldn’t be a problem I certainly don’t have an issue using previous seasons shells.
