Cherrywood vs buttolo problem!

Hi guys hope your all well

over the past year I’ve had good success with a buttolo for calling muntjac to the point where I’ve often had to shout to stop them from running into me. However I unfortunately lost my buttolo so I went to buy a replacement when I noticed I could get a cherrywood adjustable call for nearly half the price. We are expecting out first baby this month so any chance I get to save a bit of money I take at the moment.
I was pleased with the call when it first arrived however it’s almost comical the only thing I’m able to get it to do is make muntjac bark at me but never come in for a shot. I’m sure if I had my buttolo all of these deer would be in the chiller.

had anyone found the same? Maybe I’m doing something wrong. Hindsight’s a great thing I should have juts spent the extra money in the first place!

thanks again guys much appreciated

Yep. magic little things Buttolos, I have called foxes, munties, coyotes, hogs, javelina, bobcats (had a bob almost climb into the seat with me once before I saw it) along with whitetail deer and our roe deer.  Munties are funny and sometimes they just want to be awkward and bark.  Have not used one of those cherrywood calls, used a number of other similar calls but in my view nothing comes close to a Buttolo.  Funnily I had a Swedish client who insisted you give a Buttolo a hefty almost violent sqeeze producing a 'raspy squark. I was amazed that he pulled in a couple of roe in short order..... that's how we use them in Sweden he said.
