I've been lucky in looks and temperament in my choices from two litters where a friend and then my sister also chose pups that weren't as lovely looking and were chunky as they grew, I don't like the chunky ones. So I have always looked for some hint of taller in the legs. All the hip and eye issues are a worry that make you want to go down the well bred route, but really a working background, from a gamekeeper or regular shooter would be nice.
