CaptC
A very nice solid, possibly German, 5” bladed knife. No makers name. The blade’s edge is very sharp, some old marks as expected. Brass guard and tang. Nickel silver shield set into the hardwood handle. The small retaining strap on the sheath lost its rivets so plastic ties now hold it (easy repair) £35 posted thanks
ditchman
looks as if it has been made by the same factory that made the hitler youth sheath knives..

That's what I thought as well. It has a certain "feel" about it.

I was going to say the same thing. I had one when I was younger and sadly and quite ignorantly, I didn't know what it was.
ditchman
when i was at school ...being in the scout group we were allowed to wear our own sheath knives....one lad.(his old man owned a brewery) brought in a hitler youth 1st dress knife with the swastika picked out in gold and enamel...and it had a silvered metal sheath with gold and red tassels haning from it....it was a joy to behold....headmaster got wind of it and went ballistic and conviscated it....i think he may have got it back at end of term.....proberly belonged to his father who may have leberated it at the end of the war........ A little research showed mt that the knife was very similar to the Hitler Youth knives - My thoughts are that it is post war and made in the same factory as the quality is very good.
