Beating in the Forest of Dean wanted..

Recommended Posts

Genuine question, is the dog properly trained?

Has it been worked on game?

Is it steady to flush and shot?

Do you have control of it on and off the lead?

Can you stop or when 30-50-80 yards away on the whistle and call it back on ground covered in game?

If not, go see a trainer to get the dog steady on game and you’ll very likely make some contacts for regular beating, I made lots that way and got invited to work my dogs on various shoots from small DIY syndicates up to a commercial shoot that was on the Tv.

Lots of people rush it and you’re easily black listed from the better shoots if the dogs out of control.

Our cocker is spot on mate, she's well trained on all of the above and one of the most steady dogs i have owned.

We havnt long moved to the area otherwise we would still beating where we were before. Going to be heading  to some local clay grounds and hopefully fall in with the right crow. I might add, we do prefer smaller DIY syndicates.
