Long nets ??

Hi Hele hunter.

The trick to picking up longnets is to use the end pin on the end of your net to store the net on. On my longnets i have a 1 foot long steel peg that holds the ends of the net in place.

When i come to pick the net up i hold steel pin in right hand and pick up an arms length of the net by the top and bottom line (which halves the width of the net you are picking up) and thread it onto the pin. I then pick up another arms length of net by the top and bottom line and thread onto the pin. Repeat until you have gathered your net onto the pin. I have a length of nylon chord tied to the ring of the pin which is then wrapped around the bunched net and tied to keep all in place.

The end result is a series of loops of netting tied onto your net peg. When you next come to drop the net it is already neatly gathered on your pin and all you do to drop it is put the first end pin in the ground and walk out allowing the gathered net to run off the pin until you get to the end and then peg it up.

hope this answers your question, anything else just shout out. good luck!
